I wanted a charity that would benefit local people, was based locally, did not get ongoing national funding and did not spend large amounts of money on "admin" although local bramches of national charities would not be ruled out if they fitted the above criteria.
So, the chairites for this year are :-
- Sparx Theatre Company - Holding regular theatre workshops for people with special needs and is open to all ages and disabilities.
- Salveson Ski Group - To enable a local child to participate in this year's trip. (Salveson is a national charity which enables young people with disabilities to visit the National Centre for Disabled Sport at the Winterpark resort in Colorado, USA)
- Girl Guides - South Beds District

SO Y IS MEADOW WAY LEFT OUT IN THE COLD AGAIN?
WE GET NO HELP IN ANY WAY
I don't think Meadow Way is left out in the cold. I and other councillors have always worked with resident associations and your ward councillor can help you find sources of funding if you need and support you in your events.
I wanted organisations that benefit people across the whole town and do not focus on one area, particularly as supporting one ward over another in this way could appear to be party politically motivated and used to unfairly influence an election.
It has been suggested, and I support the idea, that we give the Resident's Federation a grant each year to support them in helping the associations in the town.
What is it exactly you are looking for support in that you have not got?
