My Responsibilities

Looking through old posts I realised I never put up a list of all the committees, sub committees and working parties I am a member of.

These are my main areas on the council but I also deal with calls and emails relating to bins, street lights, residents meetings and so on, in this case I will pass the details on to the relevant group and follow up with them and report back on the progress.

  • Planning & Environment
  • Sports & Leisure
  • Combating Crime
  • Traffic Management
  • Tactic & Youth
  • Grants
Planning and Environment is a main committee with Planning Applications as one of its sub committees.

Sports and Leisure is a sub committee reporting up to the Leisure and Community committee.

Combating Crime is self explanatory and will involve reports from and briefings by our local police and trading standards amongst others.

Traffic Management should be clear as to what we do. We will do our best to keep congestion under control but that is no easy task!

Tactic and Youth is everything to do with the younger members of our society. They might not be able to vote now but they will be voting soon and they have just as much right to good services as everyone else.

Grants Working Party deals with grant applications the council receives.

Knaves Hill tree planting

Local residents around the Knaves Hill area of Linslade came together yesterday thanks to Friends of the Earth to plant trees on land owned by South Beds District Council.

The trees, paid for by SBDC, were planted along the railway fence and will in time make the area better looking and help reduce the sound coming from passing trains.

I was invited to help at the planting and remembered how much hard work goes in to digging holes but the results will be worth it.

It would be great if more people could do this (get permission from the land owner first!) and if they would like to and want help acquiring the trees and Council support please let me know.

I have been heavily involved with a scheme in my ward for residents which will be completed soon and plans will be shown to residents early in the new year.

Please don't just sit by and be unhappy about the land around you, talk to me and your neighbours and we can improve it.
